Faith Perez from Affordable Staff and welcome to our RAW Q&A session around outsourcing.

With our business operating from Australia and our managed office within the Philippines, we’ve created these series of videos for businesses that have considered outsourcing and would like to get hands on experience of our staff here in the Philippines.

Today we’re asking 3 questions from 3 different staff around success and working with us in our business.

What do you think are the most 3 important skills to possess when working with overseas clients?

Abbie – I guess for me the three most important skills to possess when working with an overseas client is number one communication skill. It is very important to have good communication like you can speak fluently or you can speak English fluently because English is the only language that everyone can understand. Active listening, given that there is this language barrier between you and the client it is important that you pay attention or you listen to your client attentively so that you will be able to understand what your client wants you to do and that you will be able to accomplish your task by the end of the day. And also efficiency when it comes to work. If you are efficient to work or if you have efficiency with your task, you are systematic, you are organised, and you have enough time to do more task.

Syrine – Well the 3 most important skills to possess when working with the overseas clients are communication skills, flexibility and critical thinking.

Kristine – Three of the most important skills to possess when working with overseas clients…one would be communication, it’s very essential. Second would be being able to work under pressure and third would be being able to do multi tasking. When you can transition to another job while you stay being focused with the current job that you are doing, I think that would be good.

Why do you think a person would be scared to offshore to a different country?

Kristine – One thing that a person would be scared of to offshore to a different country, I think that would be security. Considering that you are entrusting your company information to another person outside of the country, it would be an issue to give a trust to somebody that you really don’t know.

Syrine – A person would be scared to offshore his business to a different country because of security and trust. So these are the two factors really needed in a work relationship.

Abbie – One thing a person would be scared to offshore his business to another country is I guess trust. It’s like tending your business or even your whole life without any guarantee. It is a good thing if you can find someone who is honest who would take care or at least give security to your business but there is always that risk involved.

What do you see as the biggest challenge for a client to employ someone overseas for the first time?

Abiie – So I guess the biggest challenge for a client to employ someone overseas is cultural differences. This usually arises between individual due to the influence that they are subjected to. So I guess communication, learning and understanding their culture is one of the resolution.

Syrine – Well the biggest challenge for a client to employ someone overseas is of course language barrier. Usually clients would think if they are able to communicate well with to their employees and also if employees are able to understand well about the different task that will be provided to them.

Kristine – Aside from security being a challenge for a client, I would consider the time difference too. Knowing that the employee and the client are working in two different time zones, that’s a challenge.

Ok, that’s it
